MEEET ZARAH
In 2016 15 month old Zarah was diagnosed with Leukemia. It was just the beginning of her journey as a Childhood Cancer Warrior. Zarah travelled to Saskatoon from her small town in Saskatchewan for treatment and then returned home as often as they could to see her big siblings.
Zarah is now an energetic 6 year old who, when not being homeschooled, loves visiting with her miniature pony, riding her bike, playing with her stuffed animals and just being with her family.
MEET JORDAN
10 year old Jordan was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinal Blastoma (Eye Cancer) at just 4 months of age. He and his mom had to travel to Toronto for his treatment which became costly and lonely to be so far from their home in Calgary for long periods of time.
Jordan lost one of his eyes to this cancer and lost his hearing from the chemotherapy that he had as a baby. He wants to tell other kids who are going through treatment to “Try to be brave and strong during the treatment because if I can do it, you can do it.”
Today Jordan loves playing video games, skateboarding and the Brazilian martial art of capoeira because “it’s a combination of dancing and martial arts”. One of his mom’s favourite experiences with Jordan is their trip to Varadero, Cuba where she watched him just enjoy the ocean and soak it all in.
